I’ll still finish all three plants. I just want to have enough flower for those wanting it for their meds. I hate being limited to handing out prerolls as treats because the most desirable plant never really produced enough to go around.Runty plants can turn into winners sometimes. Some are just slow starters. I have always had trouble culling plants. I do consider growth rate when it comes to keeping clones/mothers. I try to give everything it's chance at least through the first grow.
In situations like the one you are in. I train the shit out of the tall plants and let the shorter ones grow naturally. Sometimes they catch up.
I am putting that to a test right now. I am running great seeds and top shelf clones. Clones try and take over all the time. I have noticed my production has went down. That tap root thing may be the problem.I've talked with a bunch of outdoor growers that mostly agree that the taproot you get when planting from seed is irreplaceable, and if you're growing for yield they prefer to grow fem seeds than clones.
I know for my own personal grows I would prefer top-shelf seeds than top-shelf clones because you're starting off with something totally clean (and the tap root)
I dont really enjoy keeping mothers or clones something always comes up and messes with the room. So, I prefer doing just seed runs and 1 and done at that. Run it once, see how it’s received, then retire the variety or try again next year with any remaining seeds.I am putting that to a test right now. I am running great seeds and top shelf clones. These are S1 seeds!79 and 81 are the years noted on these strains. Age may have something to do with it. You would thing they will come around once they get some roots under them.
