Cloning with cubes and dome method

This is copy and pasted from a post I made on discord.

I use "Root Riot" cubes. Which i always use scissors to make hole larger and make sure theres barely a hole in bottom of cube(so all the clone solution doesn't just sit on top of cube, I take large cuts and plants NEED to be very healthy, the cutting itself needs to be ridgid/firm not floppy, but not woody). Clonex, and use that white powdered shit katsu posted the other day lol. (As tempting as it might be, don't sniff it). And great white michorizea.

I'll take the cut, always cut 1/2"- 3/4" below a branch node, and slice that branch off so the fresh open node where branch was is in the cube! I'll lightly scrape below that node. I'll dip in the clonex, then the powder, then dip in the michorizea powder, then go into cube. Then trim ends of leaves so no larger diameter than that of a soda can(if can was held above the cutting).

My solution USUALLY consists of "VegBloom" HD salt fert in 4 gallons of water(like a heaping tablespoon worth), this time I just used the clonex solution at their recommend highest rate(10ml/gal). **ph'd to 5.7! And I always add in 1 tsp of buildasoil's powdered aloe.

***also, the cubes shouldn't be soaking wet, wring some water out, keep them very moist but not soaking. When the tray is done I dip my hand in the water and flick it on inside of dome, and on cuttings. Close the dome. ****MOST IMPORTANTLY close dome and all vents and DONT FUCKING TOUCH IT for 4 days. On 4th day take dome off and use it to vent the tray, waving it moving air around the cuts. Leave off for 10 minutes(they might start to wilt) as soon as you put it back on they will perk rihjt back up. Crack the vents just barely. In another 24 hours do the same move with the top, and open vents to 1/4 open, next day repeat and open vents half, continue each day till vents are open. (Usually open in 7 days, and I have not dunked clones yet after initial dunking). I don't spray the clones at all throughout the process. ***If you keep the leaves moist the plant doesn't want to root!

Thats my tech and recipe

I open the dome for a little if the dome seems particularly humid before 4 days (or crack a vent). Also, to increase humidity without adding moisture to the cubes I like to spray the inside top of the dome with water and put it back on.

Do you use any tray with a dome lid, or do these go into a tray with holes the size of the peat plug? Does that make sense?! Any pictures would be helpful, Id like to try this method.

idk about this , but for propogating and or seeding in a dome, i actually do exactly what kastu mentioned i BLAST the heat mat under it full and then spray the sides with tons of water open ONLY top, a bit, and bam its rh spikes right up , i find 70rh -75rh then dropping down to 60 with just a 80f +in the media leads to great germination; cloning rates eg soil coir or combo of both, plan to master dwc but need a genny power goes out far to often lol

Clonecoach on IG has great SOP on clones...

I use rockwool 4cm cubes, soak them with aloe vera blended water after filtering. Place cuttings on the cubes, I like to poke my own hole, so the cutting sits nice and tight in there. The premade holes are usually a bit too large from my experience. I usually do two cuttings per cube, one in each corner, so if 1 fails, the other is a backup!

1st day clone dome, 2nd day, i let it vent out and take excess humidity from the dome if needed, 3rd day vents open, 4th day, i leave a gap on the sides and bottom of the dome with tray so theres air exchange, after 5th day the dome gets removed. Usually a few days later when the cubes start feeling dry, i soak them for 5 minutes or so. Repeat the soaking process until you see roots. I like to leave the clone extra 5 days so the roots get developed a bit more, before moving to soil. My tent is usually 60%+ RH...

Im not a big rock wool fan, but it works great and ill stick to it for now...

And even when the clones take over a month to root, they usually work out. Usually gets roots in 15 days or so. I think they cost around 15 for 77 cubes and it comes on a plastic tray. And from 77 cubes I can do at least 144 clones... so 10 cents per clone, not so bad afterall!

Thats what works best for me at least :)
