This is just a little teaser. I need to add more content but don't have time. I still want to post this part of the story.

You may not have heard of the strain Jacks Cleaner, but among collectors of Elite genetics it has become somewhat of an urban legend. This is due to a few factors. The first is I grew it for many years before other respected growers tried it and let me know it was probably the best Sativa Hybrid in existence. In 1997 I had a gathering known in breeder circles as “Jamaica 1” several respected under ground breeder/growers met at my place and we spent 3 days toking testing talking and feasting on BBQ and southern food. We had a un official judging and JC won every first place vote. Now maybe the guys were just being nice because I tossed the gig but I knew at least I had found a great strain. But where did it come from?
I got my first PC in about 1994 it was an Acer 133 and soon found a great deal of information on Cannabis, certainly not anything like today but it led me to grow chats where I met others that shared an interest for growing. One of the first I became close online friends with was a guy with the nick ‘Skoosh’. I was amazed that there was another seriously hard working tax paying Loyal American that waked and baked everyday of his adult life. We swapped stories online, toked while we typed and found out we both love ice cream. He offered me some seeds and over time traded around what we each had. He sent me about 200 seeds of a old strain called Skoosh that was pretty infamous in his circles and I started cracking large treys looking for a keeper. The make up of these seeds were Pluton, Lambs bread, Purple Haze, and Northern Lights. What mix or pattern these crosses occurred I am not sure. Most of what I found was not impressive, super thin spindly sativa’s and mutants with whorled leaves. I did find a few that seemed normal and grew them to maturity. Of all the seeds I started over a period of a year one phenotype stood out. It was a extremely resinous ultra lemon wonder. It reminded me of a house hold cleaner named “Mr Clean” So I named it “The Cleaner”. It had one poor trait and that was weak stems and smaller size. I had not yet read botany and we all thought breeders were smarter than god so it was just luck I had a Jack Herer male from Sensi Seeds that I was to lazy to kill and just placed in a dark garage. It refused to die so I placed a small 12” Cleaner clone with him and she produced about 35 seeds.
From these I selected the best female and tossed all the males. From these was the Phenotype many now consider to be the holy grail of Cannabis, Jacks Cleaner is a large heavy producer with ultra white raised trichomes that actually give the plant a gooey appearance. Heavy citrus with over bearing lemon smell and taste I have yet to see anything like it. In 2003 we out crossed the P1 mother with a JC X blueberry offspring and created JC bx. This first stage back cross recently won third place in the 420 cup in Amsterdam by a grower named HOG. It had a 12 day cure and blew everyone away as he was an unknown in there neck of the woods. There is some confusion cause many that have the JC bx misstate the fact and say they have JC leaving off the BX indicating a back cross.

Parent # 2 is Cinderella 99 a strain everyone knows about Cinderella 99. Just in case here is the back story of it.

The Cinderella Story - as told by MrSoul (last updated for seedfinder.eu at the 15th of March 2017):

In 1996, I discovered a few seeds in a bud of Jack Herer I bought @ "Sensi Smile" coffeeshop in Amsterdam while there to buy seeds. I didn't expect much when I grew them, but one of those seeds from the JH bud produced a very special female that I call "Princess". She had devastatingly psychoactive resin and stayed short, compact and had a heavenly aroma of tropical fruit and rotten meat.

The scent given off by Princess, was unusual in the late 90's - not at all skunky - she's sweet and fruity. Someone passing by the flowering room MIGHT not recognize the scent as pot and mistake it for tropical flowers. When you rub the resin you can definitely smell it. The high of Princess is also more "psychedelic" or "trippy" compared to the strains like Skunk #1 that were popular. I always advised friends to smoke a LITTLE, wait 10 minutes, then think about whether or not you need any more... it’s easy to over-indulge and become paranoid.

We can assume Princess' mother was a Jack Herer not only because Sensi Smile printed it on the package, but also because I've smoked verified Jack Herer since then. So Princess' father is a totally unidentified mystery plant - his pollen somehow got in Sensi's growroom. Princess had two sisters join her from that same bud. I called them Genius & Café Girl. There were also 3 males from those seeds which regrettably, I didn’t preserve. Genius became the mother of the Brothers Grimm Apollo lines, while Café Girl gave us Rosetta Stone, and Princess of course, created Cinderella 99.

I wanted to create a strain that would allow me to share Princess with others, but I wanted this incredible "Holy Grail" of indoor clones available to the world in SEED form. I decided to use a technique called "cubing" (because there are 3 backcrosses involved) to create the seeds. Here’s how cubing works:

1. Pollinate a flowering clone of the chosen female with the pollen of a related male, preferably her father or a brother - to preserve any female traits that are linked to the male side of the family. An unrelated male won't have the Y-chromosome of the chosen female's family & therefore any Y-linked traits of the family will always be missing in the seed line. The resulting seeds contain 1/2 the original female's genes and 1/2 those of the male.

2. Grow the above seeds & flower them.

3. Pollinate a flowering clone of the chosen female with pollen from a male selected from the above group. These seeds contain 1/2 the chosen female's genes plus 1/4 more from the male being 1/2 her genetics too. I call this first back-cross generation .75 to capture the idea that it's 3/4 of the original female's genetics.

4. Grow the above seeds & flower them.

5. Pollinate a flowering clone of the chosen female, using a selected male from the above generation. These seeds contain 7/8 the original genes (1/2+3/8), so this second back-cross is the .88 generation.

6. Grow the above seeds & flower them.

7. Pollinate a flowering clone of the original female with pollen from a selected male off the above generation. These seeds contain 15/16 the original genes (1/2+7/16), in other words, so we’ll call this third back-cross the ".94" generation.

Theoretically, this will be a stable, true-breeding seed line from which all females are replicas of the original. Cinderella 99 seeds are created from a male P94 crossed to Princess, which is technically P97.

In the process of "cubing" Princess I wanted to add a little strength to her branches because the buds were always so heavy at harvest that the branches flopped over. To do that, I crossed a male from a heavy-yielding, dense, resinous strain, Sensi’s Shiva Skunk. Crossing that male to Princess created the "P.50" generation (using the shorthand notation I developed to indicate the fraction of Princess genes in the cross).

Each generation is the result of crossing a male from the previous generation to Princess herself.

Here's a blow-by-blow description of the generations as they tested in my garden:

P.50 = Heavy, single-cola type plants with mellow high (too much influence from the Shiva Skunk) Sweet fruity scent/flavor. Unstable in most traits - for example, 10 days difference in fastest/slowest maturation period in a group of 20 seedlings.

P.75 = Princess floral cluster and bud structure, scent/flavor turned more "tropical" like pineapple. The stability was becoming better - two major phenotypes; short & dense (potent too) or tall/HUGE (less potent).

P.88 = Renamed Cinderella 88 when first released on the market. It grows fast and produces excellent yields of FROSTY buds in 7 weeks! Generally uniform seedlings with minor differences in floral formation and some height variance, but the smoke is quite consistent from all plants - Dense, heavy nuggets of fruity scented & flavored (like wild berries) and covered in resin glands, the dried buds have distinctly ORANGE pistils.

And finally, the male P.94 cross to the Princess clone creates Cinderella 99. The name "Cinderella" was chosen because of the parallels between this story and the well-known fairy tale in which Cinderella becomes a Princess despite her humble beginning.

Each generation exhibited a MAJOR jump in potency: P.50 was rather mellow, P.75 has a well-balanced body/mind high with a citrus flavor, Cinderella 88 is cerebral and paralyzing with a tropical fruit flavor, and Cinderella 99 is of course renowned for the fruity flavor and speedy, scary high inherited from Princess.

This project clearly became a huge success. The strain has been embraced by the cannabis growing community. The smokers gave rave reviews & the breeders elevated Cinderella 99 to cult status. It's extremely gratifying to me, MrSoul that so many hybrids were created by breeders who recognized C99 as a stable parental stock from which to build or tweak another variety. It's a big compliment to me as the breeder, and a huge testament to the enduring quality of Cinderella 99.

This is where the story began. I grew out TGA's Jack the Ripper. I found a great frosty female and managed to clone it. When I tried to self it I used the clone and didn't get any seeds. That female had wonder lemon flavor and killed the munchies. Appetite surpression comes from the lemon some how. I will be posting about that at some time. Right now I am just trying to on the basics.

That plant is my goal. I am looking to find and make a lemon sativa that suppresses your appetite. Problem is, these seeds are no longer sold. Here is another description from seedfinder that tells about Jack the Ripper

As good as JC bx was, I learned a lot in 6 years breeding and growing almost full time and I was confident I could find a better male using patterns to find the recessive drug traits. So instead of continuing a cube I wasn’t 100% satisfied with the outcross I decided to start again using two different lines to establish the best. JTR is the first outcross to be completed using a Spacequeen male; the second will be a Cindy99 outcross. The goal here is to establish the best possible outcross to cube back to JCf1. The cool part is the outcrosses are sometimes better than the parent strains, I feel this is the case with JTR. The Lemon tart of JC has combined with the candy mango flavor of the Spacequeen to create a resinous marvel. Maintaining JC’s heavy structure and potency the female dominated this cross with the exception of adding some sweet mango flavor and smoothing out JC’s harsh toke. I will be doing my best to enter this strain in the 2006 Cannabis Cup.

Cinderella 99 crossed to Jack's Cleaner seemed to be the closest I was going to get to Jack the Ripper. C-99 is every bit as good of a strain as Space Queen. They both will add quality genetics and the possibility that my Lemon sativa will show up. Plus this keeps the strain on the mostly sativa side. There is a lot more to this plan than a lemon sativa. I need this plant for something else.

"Jackalope" is the end game of this story. I need a Jack named plant to make Jackalope. I am old school. I like the parent names in my strains. That Jack the Ripper plant was one of my favorite sativa. The other one is Cannalope Haze, a relaxing night time sativa. That is going to be the lope part of the name. We will leave that part of the story for another day. Right now we are going to concentrate on the Jack part.

I started 15 Jack's Cleaner x C-99 seeds. So far 7 are in dirt. I may decide to start the second pack or part of them if I need more females to look at. I will be testing plants for sex so I will know ahead of time what is what. I am just looking for a female. The Jack part of the name is first so that means it will be the female.

This is going to be a slow going story. I have a lot going on around it. Plus I don't post a lot of plants in veg. Here I will try and do better and show you what I am finding.

This thread may not make sense for a while. Mostly right now it is ideas and seeds. Like I said the end product is going to be a strain called "Jackalope". I have a plan to start, this project. As we know, plans can change. I expect to change my mind along the way as new info/plants come along. There are only 2 things that are not subject to change.

1 the strain will be a kick ass sativa
2 the parent names will be in the hybrid.

Sounds easy enough. I do have a idea of what I want the strain to be if nothing goes wrong. I want a lemon flavored nighttime sativa that doesn't give you the munchies. I add the lemon flavor because I need the lemon part to find appetite suppression. Pretty sure to accomplish that, it will have lemon flavor.

Why a nighttime sativa you ask? Why not! Nighttime is a realm that is normally left to indica. The first time I grew Cannalope Haze it was for daytime weed. Once I harvested it, I found I could function in the daytime with it. What I really liked was smoking it at night. It was the most relaxing of the weed I had to smoke. I want more of that smoke in my life.

Not sure I can accomplish the whole thing. I will do as much as I can. Like I said, only 2 things won't change. Lots of other variables along the way. What the plants give me is the most variable.

The search for Jack is on. I have a 10 Jack's Cleaner x C-99 regular seeds going now. Plus I have 6 female Sativa Junky starts going. Sativa Junky is a strain I made crossing Durban Jack, (Durban Thai x Jack Herer) x Cap Junky. If I find a great female I will name it Jacked.

While I have a idea of what I want the strain to be. Nothing is cut and dried. I like the idea of using a strain I made in the hybrid. There is no turning away from Cannalope Haze. It is the main ingredient and has the main trait I want. Night time sativa.

Looks like a fellow seed saver is making a contribution to this project. Someone came up with more Cannalope Haze seeds to add to the mix. Not sure what they are. I have a mix of regular and feminized seeds right now to look at.

I mentioned in my last post that I was going to just let Jackalope be what it is going to be. Originally I wanted to work in THCV into the strain. That has changed. I found another strain that has high levels of THCV in them. Hopefully I will still find my Jack's Cleaner x C99 female that has lemon and THCV. I want to cross 2 plants with high levels of THCV and see what happens.

There is a place in the weed world for weed that doesn't give you the munchies. If not, I will be still be happy 🤣.

I am now leaning to the Sativa Junky/Jacked plants to find a keeper Jack female. It is a strain I made so I won't just be crossing 2 strains someone else made. There is some originality in the plants chosen. Back in the day. My Mentor made his own White Russian hybrid by crossing his selections of AK-47 and White Widow. That strain kicked ass. I still want to have more of a influence on the genetics in Jackalope. Sativa Junky/Jacked is 2 of my favorite plants crossed together. Durban Jack is a amazing plant with a great high. It has better flavor and almost as good of high as Grimms original Jack Herer. I would love some of it's influence in Jackalope.

I found more Cannalope Haze feminized seeds. That gives me 2 full packs of females and 1 pack of regulars. Plenty to find a great female. It is still up in the air about finding the right male plant. I really would like to find a good male. I do believe Cannabis by Corry uses a male Cannalope Haze. I know I can find a female Cannalope for S-1's and a feminized Jackalope strain. I have thoughts of contacting Corry after the strain has been made to see if he would want to work together on the regular strain.

Lot of good old school work thank you!
Now I just need to find the right plants. At one time I did have them and tried to reverse a frosty Jack the Ripper to pollenate great Cannalope Haze female. I lost both plants. I couldn't clone well back then. Not sure which plant I miss the most.

There was supposed to be a strain called Jackalope before I ever took the name.

All the Jack females are doing well. I have to water the starts today. I think I will take sex samples and ship them out today. I could use a little extra room anyway. I am excited to see how many Jack's Cleaner x C-99 females I have.
I crossed JTR to a old blueberry prior to my raid a long time ago but that was the last of my JTR seeds

This grow started as a way to find a Jack named female for a strain i am making. Since starting this I have found a couple strains that should also carry good females that have high concentrations of THCV. One is the Jack the Ripper mentioned above. The other comes from Cali Connection. They ,ention THCV in the strain distcription. Hopefully I will find a good one.

I have decide to split this into 2 hybrids somehow. I may get lucky and find one plant that can do both. Most likely I will be doing a THCV hybrid separately from the Jackalope project. I want jackalope to be a kick ass strain. Hopefully with my Durban Jack x Cap Junky cross involved. I also want it to be more of a night time strain than daytime weed. The THCV strain should be a daytime strain.

Epic history on a strain I cut my teeth on properly taking to harvest and revegging 9times with a Jillybean JellieBellie pheno also revegged several times as well. My JC2 seed stock were from Sub n Jill, as I was a chat mod on MEDUSER.ca back in the early 2000s. They were regulars in grow chat but realize these were the better days that Jill n Sub had before the heavier usage of things that took it downhill. Back to the JC2, I held a SUPER LOUD Lemon Pinesol Pheno of the JC2 and another pheno that was a total mutant and it produced a very sugary lemon with a slight cirtusy orange to it. Both cuts were heavy Sat. phenos and i really cant ever getting the munchies now that you have mentioned this, and its goty intrest peaked. This was by far the best lemon/pinesol pungency and terp profile inever really regretted not having for seems like in forever now! Super info thx for this thread! Blast from the past for me!

You are one of the few people I have talked too that has actually tried Jacks Cleaner. Funny you should mention the mutant. When I grew out TGA's Jack's Cleaner 2, My only female was a mutant. I did have a good looking male so I made some F-2 seeds. Because of the mother being a runt. I have not tried them. I fully pollinated the runt so I never got a idea of how good the weed smoked. It is kind of nice to hear mutants were a pheno, I may need to try those F-2's for my THCV project.

When I started this thread. It was to look for something that may be like Jack the Ripper so I could work with it. That was because a person couldn't find any true Jack the Ripper seeds. A trip to the post office yesterday changed all that. When my brother in-law died. I inherited his seed collection. It wasn't huge but it had one true jewel.

All the other seed packs were opened and a few seeds missing. This was the only unopened pack. Hard to say what this means to the Jack's Cleaner project. These seeds are rare enough, I think I am going to do F-2's of them. If any phenotypes of the Jack's Cleaner x C-99 are impressive enough, they will go into the project too. THCV project is going to be bigger than I had planned.

I promise there will be a end to this thread someday 🤣 . Here in a month or so, the plants will be big enough to start getting pictures. Most Jack's Cleaner x C-99 have been super cropped and bent. They are still in 1 gallon pots for a couple weeks while GDP finishes flowering. Here is a small look at them. They are the plants under the T-5 light.

My thoughts were to run the Jack the Ripper after Cananlope Haze. I might have to change that. A lot matters how the females look, this run. I have been kind of planning on using a female from the Durban Jack x Cap Junky for strength. I am going to try and keep this a all old school hybrid. No Cookies allowed. I know Jack the Ripper can hit the same frost levels as the new stuff. I just need to find the right phenotype.

Lovin this, pls dont end it...lol. Really prayin you end up with a pheno similiar to the lime green super sugar coated spears my JC2 had, brotherman. The sweetness level was smashed with that pheno, most stout lemon pledge, pinesol nose and straight lemon sugar on your lips left after the exhale. The electric yet completely focused, and defined buzz that accompanied this only gave further stakes for me to keep it around as.long as i was able. Unfortunately life happens to us all, and gives us cause to find it all again...😊 Shine on, and looking forward to seein this progress!

Are you breeding an appetite suppression strain with the THCV project?
