My Soil Blend

I add the following to two cubic feet of ProMix BX. I only add the soybean meal once a year. Using this soil blend when I water my plants I use water soluable kelp powder and Fish Emulsion 5-1-1. I use the green measuring scoop that comes with miracle grow, the small end I use for the kelp powder and the large end to measure out the fish emulsion. During the seedling and early veg I will add fresh Aloe Vera crushed and squeezed into a gel then mix it with the water.

1 Cup Soybean Meal 7-2-1 Nitrogen and Potassium Lasts in soil for 1-2 years.
1 Cup Neem Meal 6-1-2 stimulates growth of plants and microbes in compost and soil protects against soil and root pets
1 Cup Kelp Meal 1-0-4 potassium, magnesium, calcium, and nitrogen full of trace Minerals, Carbohydrates and Amino Acids
1 cup Alfalfa Meal 3-.5-3 phosphorus potassium calcium, magnesium, sulfur, Manganese, iron, copper, boron, and zinc
1/2 cup Langbeinite 0-0-22 potassium, magnesium, and sulfur neutral PH
4 cups rock dust trace minerals and micronutrients feeds microbes
2 cups oyster shell flour Its calcium helps balance soil pH levels, improves nitrate uptake, aids enzyme formation and strengthens plant cell walls
5 cups worm castings Nitrogen, feeds microbes, adds organic matter, enhance seed germination, plant growth, flowering and fruit production.
2+ cups Diatomaceous Earth Adds Silica PH Neutral Calcium great for plant cell growth,
1/2 cup BSF Frass blend of N-P-K and minerals chitin good for plant health and disease resistance, feeds microbes

When I make a new batch or reamend used I add decomposed remains of logs. There is a swamp close to my place where I mine the logs for the good stuff. You want the real soft stuff under the hard outer bark covered shell. I remove the hard bits and break up the soft pieces. It is loaded with benefical life and the stuff living in it helps break down the seed meals and other stuff I add.

From the looks of it BX, HP, and HPCC is being discontinued. No longer listed on their site. Huge loss for growers. I started doing my mix in HPCC, was the perfect base imho. Watering was much more predictable

Interesting mix. No perlite for drainage?
I went 20% perlite the first year in December of 2021 added to it in 2022 during recharge and making new batches. I havent added any since the end of 2022. The PRoMix has Perlite and I use fabric pots and they drain really well. As long as it drains well, the plants grow and there are no fungus gnats I wont use any more drainage. To me drainage material in fabric pots is wasted space that can be used for nutritious soil.

Rick/MrSoul at Grimm mixes stuff into his Promix soil. I have plans to go down this winter for a soil and drip system class. I have been thinking about changing to Promix instead of the Fox Farm soil I use now.

I was going to keep the soil inert so I can feed when watering. I really don't have the space to mix soil very well. I do my mixing in a big tote in the house now.

I use an older model Husky latch and stack wheeled tote and a Rubber Made Commerical Brute Bin to mix soil. I use empty cat litter plastic bins to store the soil and as a plant stand. The soil stays nice a moist in the bins as the water vapor condenses on the lid to keep and droplets fall into the soil.

I forgot to add in my soil blend and watering routine I use two row malt. I add some to new soil, recharging used soil and I will add some in a top dress and work it into the top soil three times. I use it in early veg when transplanting, late veg when transplating to flowering pot and again during mid flower.
